Tiler Peck is your typical 16-year old girl when she’s out of dance and with her friends. When dance time comes though, she lifts up into her perfect ballet posture and dances her heart out. Peck was born January 12th, 1989. Her hometown is Bakersfield, California. She started dancing at age 3 and began pointe at age 9. In the 6th grade, she had her big break. “At The Music Man audition they kept me ’til the end, then asked my mom if I could move to New York City if I got the part. I found out I got it back at school in California, when my mom called and had our principal announce it over the loudspeakers,” exclaimed Peck. There, she soon rose to the top. First, before even going to more auditions, she had to go through those long and tiring dance schedules. Her dance routine consisted of at least 14 hours of ballet and 10 hours of jazz a week. Vocal and acting classes were also thrown in there sometimes if she needed some coaching for a role. When she started really getting into the feel of things, she auditioned for the role of Clara in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and got the part. She was the lead girl and felt like a real-Prima Ballerina.

I am a dancer and would love to be a Rockette in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular or a ballerina at ABT (American Ballet Theater.) Tiler Peck has done both of those things and if she can do it, so can I. She shows all young dancers out there, like myself, that anybody can get noticed at any time. At the audition that changed her life, Peck just did what she did, and that was to have fun with what she loves. Her love for dance got her seen by the judges and soon got her the lead role and for her to move to New York City. This inspires me so much to go out to my auditions and have fun with my love of dance and eventually get judges to notice. Whenever I read about her in my magazines I get a strong feeling in me of knowing that will be me one day living my dream.

Heroes leave all different kinds of impacts on people. Some people’s heroes may just be a cool and interesting person who didn’t do anything really special; other’s show their soft side of doing all this community service and helping out the needed. For me, my hero showed me that you can achieve your wildest dreams and continue on with other fortunate events. Tiler Peck will always be in the back of my head whenever I am at dance and feel low on self-esteem.
