"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice
and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." - Pele -

Edson Arantes do Nascimeinto also known as "Pele" is known as the world's best soccer player, arising from the streets of Brazil to being pronounced the god of soccer, Pele is no normal soccer player.  Pele was born October 23, 1940 in Tres Coracoes, Brazil, Pele grew up in an extremely poor neighborhood.  He spent most of his childhood shining shoes and cleaning streets for a few cents just so he could buy a soccer ball. At the age of eleven he was first found by a professional Brazilian soccer player who had faith in him and took him to play for a local soccer team. From that point on, Pele's career went straight up forward.  He played in Brazil through 1956,1958,1960-62,1964-65,1967-69,1973. He played four world cups in the years 1958, 1962, 1966, 1970 and he also became the world's youngest player to play a World Cup. Pele kept on playing soccer until 1977 when he fully retired from the sport. Throughout his career due to his amazing talent and humanitarian actions, Pele was given many awards, including the International Peace Award and  the National Soccer Hall of Fame Award. To this day, Pele is still a healthy man and continues his life as a soccer ambassador.  A hero must possess talent and perserverance.  Edson Arantes do Nascimiento is a legendary person inside the soccer field and outside plus he carries traits that every hero should carry.

Edson Arantes do Nascimiento "Pele" was more than a professional soccer player he was the most talented.  Pele's amazing skills awarded him with many important, and hard to achieve awards "Pele was a former Brazilian football player who is known for his extraordinary gameplay skills and is considered by many to be the greatest footballer the world has ever seen.  He was also awarded the title of  'Athlete of the Century' by the International Olympic Committee." ("Pele." Biography Â- Childhood, Profile.) Many athletes to this day dream of what Pele achieved in life and only a few have achieved what he did. Pele set new world records in the sport of soccer that to this day still remain like most hat tricks and most goals. Pele's amazing skills not only revolutionized the sport but the whole world.  Pele revolutionized the game with his electrifying, creative and athletic style of play. He was such an appealing player that he transcended national boundaries in a sport that is almost synonymous with nationalism." (Pele." Notable Sports Figures). Pele's skills were like no others; the fact that he changed the sport in such a big way, is incredible. Very few athletes have been able to do such a thing.  Pele's amazing skills not only benefited him but also the whole world, he made the sport more famous and brought it to more countries which increased their economy since there was a new sport people could play. Pele's talent was like no other, he revolutionized the sport like no other athlete has done.

Pele lived a rough childhood that many famous athletes today didn't have to go through but he was able to overcome that with perseverance. Pele's young life was really different than the lives we have today and when Pele was a child he appreciated things more than we do now a days.  "Pele grew up in a poor neighborhood, where one of the only sources of entertainment for a poor boy was to play soccer." ( "World Biography.)  Many people would feel depressed and useless if they were poor but this wasn't the case for Brazilian children being poor made them even bigger dreams and passionate about the game. This was the case for Pele and even when he became rich and famous he still retained that attitude.  Many people don't really quite know what Pele had to go through just to play soccer.  "Pele could not afford to buy a football, so, he used to practice with either a grapefruit or a sock stuffed with newspaper tied with a string." ("Pele." Biography‚- Childhood, Profile.)  Limited with resources to practice, Pele was still able to become one of the world's best players. The fact that he trained with such materials that were not similar to a soccer ball really shows that if you put your mind to it you'll achieve it.  Pele's young life really reflects the type of person he is and will remain.

Pele carries traits that not many do which makes him a true hero. Pele is a great person on and off the field; his life is like no other athletes life. He has proved so many people wrong and made people see that dreams really come true by achieving what some people consider impossible. Like the time when he brought peace to the world, "One of most amazing moments happened in the year 1967 when the two factions who were involved in the Nigerian Civil War agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire so that they could watch Pele play an exhibition match in Laos " ("Pele." Biography‚- Childhood, Profile.)  Pele's amazing skills united the world into one and brought peace just so they could see his amazing skills.  Pele is by far one of the most amazing athletes this world has ever witnessed.
