Pele

My hero is Edson Arantes do Nascimento better known as Pele. Pele was born October 23 1940 in Tres Coracoes, Brazil. My hero had a younger brother Jair, and a younger sister Maria Lucia. His mother’s name is Celeste and his father’s name is Jao Ramos. I chose Pele because he is one of the greatest soccer players ever. Since Pele grew up in poverty he knows how rough it can be so he is very generous to poor people.

My hero’s hero was his dad. His dad was a soccer player but his career was ended with an injury yet Pele still believes that he was the best soccer player ever. Pele faced many challenges since he was born into poverty, like he couldn’t afford shoes or a real soccer ball so he used a stuffed up sock or crumbled up newspaper.

Pele is a hero because he donated his whole salary to a children’s foundation. Pele also helped inspire soccer in the United States by playing for a team in New York called the Cosmos. Before Pele came to the United States the United States didn’t even have a team that competed in the World Cup. Pele also is one of the best soccer players in history with a total of 1281 goals. Pele once said, "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”

My hero Edson Arantes do Nascimento has overcome poverty and has become one of the best soccer players anyone has ever seen. If you have ever seen Pele play you would agree that Pele is the best soccer player ever.
