Pele

Edson Arantes Do Nascimento (Pele) was born on October 23 1940 in Tres Coracoes, Brazil. Pele's Dad Dondinho taught him to play soccer because he used to play in a league till he fractured his leg. Edson Arantes Do Nascimento lived in a poor neighborhood and he couldn't afford a soccer ball. He got the name Pele at a soccer game called Pedela.

He hated the name Pele so one day at school he punched the kid who called him that. He then got suspended. On His 6th birthday his dad got him a soccer ball from his friend Sosa. He was discovered at the age of 11 by one of Brazil's scouts named Waldemar de Brito. Waldemar de Brito took Pele to Sao Paulo and told the people that the boy (Pele) will be the best soccer player ever.

Pele's first game on the team at the age of 16 was against Corinthians F.C and he scored right away. Pele went on to play in four World Cups with Brazil's National Team. At the 1958 World Cup in Sweden that he almost missed because of a knee injury. Pele stunned the world scoring six goals, including two in the championship game to help Brazil win its first World Cup 5-2 over Sweden. He was only 17 years-old, but a legend was born.

Pele is my hero because he is the one of the best soccer players. He also has done many soccer camps for little kids. I look up to him because he was a very good soccer player and I like soccer. He also is a role model to poor people because when he was a kid he was poor but now he is know as one of the best soccer players.

He proved to poor people that anything is possible and that you can do anything if you practice and put your mind to it. He has a great career in soccer and he is an all around nice guy.
