Clinton Portis

A person that really inspires me is Washington Redskins pro running back Clinton Portis. Clinton Portis inspires me because he never gives up. He is only 5'11" and weighs 205 pounds, but still he never takes anything from anyone. He says, "Just because I'm little... I still ball!" That means a lot to me seeing that I'm small. When I'm in a football game, I take his quote to the head and run with it. It pushes me to never give up and not to let the opposite team throw me around because I'm small.

Another thing that inspires me is his life growing up. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and he played football his middle school years and almost all his high school years until his mother died. That almost ended his future. He went through a hard time and almost droppped out of high school. But he said he thought about it one night and he said his mom would want him to finish school and pursue his career, and so he did.

He later graduated from Gainseville High School and went to college at University of Miami. There his future began. He played football his freshman year as a running back and was very successful, averaging 100 plus rushing yards a game. His senior year he entered the draft and was drafted to the Denver Broncos. He was drafted to the Washington Redskins in 2004. He played successfully, leading his team to the playoffs that year.

He still says today that without his mom he wouldn't be here, and he thanks her for teaching him to never give up. He also said before every game he thinks of her and remembers what she said, and it helps him get through the game successfully. Today, he continues to dominate teams and break records. This year he guarantees a Superbowl win for 2007.

The point of this report is to let you know how Clinton Portis's experiences help me to never give up and to strive for success. If you let things bring you down, it could affect you in your future. So never give up. No matter what comes in life, deal with it and keep moving and remember.
