Robert Bartlett was a very interesting person. He was an arctic explorer and an ice navigator and he had won very interesting medals. He had won the Hubbard Medal of the National Geographic Society in the year 1909. The reason was that Robert Bartlett was the first person to break through the frozen Arctic Sea. He got up to one hundred thirty miles within the North Pole. Unfortunately, he was excluded from the final exploring party because he got into a rivalry with somebody else. On a happier note, Robert Bartlett was the first person to sail north of 88 degrees N latitude. Wow, that really is amazing!

I think being a hero means being a brave person, ready to risk a lot for other people. I think Robert Bartlett was a hero because, like I said above, he was a brave person and he was ready to risk a lot for other people. Robert Bartlett died because he caught a serious case of pneumonia and died. Robert Bartlett had won the Hubbard medal because he broke the path of ice to the North Pole to within one hundred thirty miles of the pole. He died on April 28th, 1946 at a New York hospital because he caught a bad case of pneumonia. He wasn’t married and he didn’t have any children. He was buried in Brigus, Newfoundland. Robert Bartlett was a really good person.
