Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks is a hero to me because she stood up for what was right and she did not use violence. She was very brave because she went to jail for what she did. When Rosa Parks was a kid she was allowed to read.

On December 5th 1955, Rosa Parks knew that she was not going to give up her seat on the bus. She had actually planed for this to happen for a long time. She says that she would have given her seat to a kid or an elderly person but it just wasn’t right to do it for a man so she didn’t give her seat up. Rosa Parks once said “ No, actually I had no fear at that particular time, I was very determined to let it be known how it felt to be treated in that manner - discriminated against.” Rosa Parks felt bad that her kind of people were being treated unkindly.

Rosa Parks and many other people including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stayed off the buses for a year after that. They walked and carpooled to work. Eventually the buses were out of money and could not buy gas and other things they needed. Rosa Parks was determined to keep her seat on the bus and to stand up to the police whatever they did. She knew what she did was against the law but it was wrong to treat African Americans differently from white people. Rosa Parks felt good when she could sit at the front of the bus for the first time ever!!!!!!!!!

Rosa Parks was not scared to do what she did and was determined to let it be known what she did. She had known that it would not be easy to get home that day.

When Rosa Parks was a kid she was allowed to read. Rosa Parks felt bad that her kind of people were being treated unkindly.
