Ralph H. Baer (a.k.a "The Father of Video Games") was born March 8, 1922 in Germany. Because of his Jewish ancestry growing in up was not easy. In September 1938, he and his family left to America for a better future. Baer graduated the National Radio Institute as radio service technician in 1940. In 1949 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in T.V. After school, Baer went right to work as a engineer for Wappler, Inc. He had to design and build medical equipment. He joined the Sanders Associate Company in 1956. During this time he started working on the"Brown Box" system in 1966. Baer went on to make a few more games like "Maniac" and such. In 2006, he was given the "National Medal of Technology" by George W. Bush. Also the Pioneer Award in 2008, and National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2010. This man has been through many things, and done so much in his time. This is why he is my hero.
