"Federer finished as ATP World Tour Champion for the fifth time in six years in 2009. He became the all-time leader in men's tennis with 15 Grand Slam singles titles with his seventh straight Wimbledon final, defeating Roddick. He also took four titles in the season and earned his fifteenth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown in Madrid and his sixteenth in Cincinnati, Ohio."  ("Roger Federer, Newsmakers").  Roger Federer is truly a legend when is comes to ATP tennis.  With over 15 grand slam victories, he outdid all other teens his age who played tennis.  Born August 8, 1981, in Basel, Switzerland; son of Robert and Lynette Federer, married to Miroslava Vavrinec with four children, Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players to ever compete in ATP.   Roger is an idol to many amatuer tennis players, and has a amazing amount of  victories to many experienced players around the world.  He has won many tournaments in his career, and is now one of the oldest players to compete.  Modesty and Determination are two great qualities that contribute to a individuals ability to be a hero.  Roger Federer is my deserving hero because he possesses both of these qualities, making him a good person, and tennis player.

Roger Federer is a deserving hero because he is very modest and donates his money to charities.  Roger remains calm and modest even after he wins a lot.  "'It"s staggering that I"ve been able to play so well for so many years now and stay injury-free,' Federer said in the same article. 'I knew what it took to win the big ones. ... It's crazy that I've been able to win so many in such a short period of time.'"  Despite all of Rogers wins, he continues to be modest and surprises himself every time he achieves a victory.  Roger wins because he displays modesty and never underestimates his opponents.  Roger is a spectacular person overall. He chooses to donate his money to good causes, and helps provide children with education whose parents cant afford it.  "Despite a turbulent year, Roger does not neglect his social responsibility. Within the scope of the Roger Federer Foundation, he is personally involved in various projects. He participates in Pratteln in a group meeting of a:primo, which supports children from educationally disadvantaged families."  ("Roger Federer, Tenro AG").   Roger is always generous, and shows this by donating to charities and appreciating his fans.  His generosity is part of what makes him such a good role model to younger tennis players.  In conclusion, Rogers modesty contributes to what makes him a good person and a hero.

Roger Federer is very determined to win, nothing can stand in his way.  He will not give up, even if he is losing by a mile.  Roger wins his matches because he is very calm on the court.  He will stop at nothing to achieve a victory.  "A lot of times you don't understand how he can do it. The way he covers the court, it's like he's never forcing his game. He's everywhere. His attitude never changes--winning, losing, if he doesn't play well--he's very calm. He is going to be the best player ever. I don't see anyone who can stop him now."  Roger stays calm and collected throughout the entire match, this is necessary for victory.  This determination is what causes him to win, along with his skill level.  Roger doesn't expect himself to win, but his determination drives him to.  "Roger Federer unexpectedly won the men's singles title at Wimbledon in 2003. Six years later the Swiss native became the winningest Grand Slam tennis player with a record 15 major championships."  ("Roger Federer Gale In Context).  Rogers determination pays off by causing him to win, being determined is a great advantage that can change whether you win or lose.  Federer may seem like he is going to lose, but his determination allows him to turn the game around.  In conclusion, Roger Federer's determination is one of the things that make him a hero.  This is something only a true hero possesses.

In conclusion, Roger Federer is my deserving hero because he is equipped with two important qualities, modesty and determination.  Roger shows modesty when he sets aside all of his wins in the past, and focuses on the moment and winning that game as fair and well as he can.  He also shows modesty when he donates to charities that benefit children whose parents cannot afford education for them.  Determination is present when Roger is playing in a match, and he may be losing, he doesn't give up, and because of this, he ends up winning.  Roger is an inspiration because he proves to all tennis players who have dreams of becoming pro, that anyone can make it, all you have to do is invest enough time into practice, and believe in yourself and be modest.  At first Roger started off as a hothead who lost his cool easily, but as he matured, he became a respectable player.  In my opinion, Roger Federer is a deserving hero because of his modest attitude towards everything and everyone, and his determination to win matches.
