Sir Robert Hall II, or his common stage name, Logic, made his music my addiction at the age of ten. Right away, his lyricism amazed me and I continued to listen to his music to this date. I began to dig deeper into his life and discovered that he is a producer as well as a rapper. This idea of making beats created my dream today. As a current music producer, I continue to look up to him for inspiration with my instrumentals. He is a great person that spreads the word of rap music to the world in a positive way.
The occupation of a music producer has great room for creativity. Most of the job is working on a music producing software, such as Logic Pro X, on a computer, according to Wikipedia. There is no required education to be a music producer, but it is good to take classes in audio development. The salary ranges from around $20,000 to $1,000,000. Related careers are actually creating the vocals and songwriting. Recent developments in the hip hop industry get released almost daily with the use of mixtapes, or albums not yet copyrighted.
My personal career hero had a very interesting childhood. Logic grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland Section 8 housing, greatly concentrated with poverty and crime. His experiences of being in danger can translate to his style and lyrics. The fact that he stayed away from the gang life and created music is a great choice for a boy put in that situation. Logic was not able to graduate high school due to his parents not being around and his priorities such as working 3 jobs every day. He became a fan of music when he was 4, when a friend bought him a Roots vinyl, according to Wikipedia. His first mixtape was released in 2009, which was a big advancement because this was the first time the public on the internet got to hear him. Logic finished his tour in late March and has released an album under Def Jam Records and a single on the audio streaming site SoundCloud.
Logic continues to spread his positive message to the world through music. According to his general message that can be found on his website mindoflogic.com, his motto is peace, love, and positivity. Basically it means to not be demeaning to everyone and live in each other's happiness. Logic is sometimes misperceived for his explicit lyrics, but when you listen deeper, it really includes a lot of intellectual words. People's lives are changed when they listen to Logic because it is very inspirational. Rap is misperceived so Logic raps to show the positive side of the genre.
I have a pretty good pathway to follow to become a producer like my personal career hero. First, I plan to finish a mixtape before I graduate high school. I also plan to take an ROP class in audio and music production. Then, I plan to go to an arts school such as The Arts Institute in Santa Monica and continue to independently release my music. After that, I hope that I can sign to Def Jam Records and make beats for a living. As a future working class American in the music industry, I hope that I can produce music for inspirational rappers such as Logic.
