Did you know that every day people die because of diseases they get from dirty water? My hero is Ryan Hreljac. He is my hero because he did something good for Africa. He lived in Ottawa, Canada and at the age of six he started to help people in Africa get clean water.
Ryan Hreljac was born May 31, 1991. He was just a regular kid and did everything regular kids do, like going to school every day and drinking out of the water fountain and going to the bathroom. Ryan decided to help after he heard his teacher say that some people in Africa don't have any clean water and they get sick and die because of that.
I would describe Ryan as a loving friend that any African would love to have. He felt really sad that some Africans don't get very much clean water just because of the country they live in. He believed that he could make a difference and help them. He started by doing chores to make money to help them build wells and get clean water.
My hero made life better for a lot of people. Ryan saved lives by earning money to bring clean water to people in Africa. His charity has also built bathrooms to keep these places clean. In total Ryan's charity has built over 1000 wells and 1,153 bathrooms for poor people in Africa. He also speaks to raise more money for his charity so he can build more wells.

Ryan was very brave and helpful because he helped people in Africa get clean water. Now some people Africa won't die because they have clean water and bathrooms. This hero is important to Africa and he's important to me because he inspires me to help the world, and that is why he is a good role model.
