Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley

I chose Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley for my hero. I did so because he was an amazing person that tried his best to inspire peace and love in everybody. His music was much loved all over the world due to its peaceful nature. Bob sang about One Love; the idea that the world can unite, forever ending war. This was Bob Marley's dream.

Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley was born on the island of Jamaica on February 6, 1945. He was born in Nine Miles, near Saint Anna. His father was Norval Sinclair Marley, who was a white man visiting Jamaica. His mother was Cedella Booker, who married Norval Marley at the age of eighteen. Bob's father died at the age of sixty, when Bob was only ten years old, causing him and his mother to live on their own. Robert Nesta Marley died on May 11, 1981 at 36 years old.

When he was only fourteen, Bob left school and became an apprentice at a welding shop. Although this was how he made a living, Bob's real passion was music. Every day, Bob played music and sang with his friend Neville Livingston. They found other passionate musicians in their area, and they started a band called the Wailing Wailers (Later shortened to the Wailers). They quickly rose up in the Jamaican charts and soon they became famous around the world.

I chose Bob Marley for this essay because he truly felt that he could change the evil things in this world, and he did. At one of his free concerts in Jamaica, he convinced two warring political parties to be at peace. Unfortunately, before one of his concerts, he was shot by an unknown gunman. Two days later, he sang as scheduled because "The people that are making this world a bad place do not take breaks, so why should I?” Bob Marley was a phenomenal musician who lived an amazing life.

Robert Nesta Marley has made a difference in my life. He has helped teach me about the importance of peace, through his many wonderful songs. His devotion to the concept of a united world has set an example for people across the world. He has undoubtedly changed many lives in every nation, simply by following his dream, and sticking to what he believes in. Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley is my hero.
