Rosa Parks was an average African American woman. She lived like everyone else in her race, but she didn’t agree with the laws against African Americans. She and her race didn’t have any rights and had to show white people full respect and obey their laws, if they didn’t they would suffer harsh consequences. She knew something had to be done. Someone had to stand up to the white people and fight for equal rights.
My hero is Rosa Parks, she was born on the 4th February in Tuskegee, Alabama, USA in 1913. Sadly Rosa passed away on the 24th October 2005, aged 92 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Rosa was involved in a situation whilst she was sitting in a bus.
She made a difference to the rights of African Americans whilst travelling on public transportation. There were no seats left on a public bus, and a white man walked on to the bus looking for a seat; in those days African Americans had to stand up for a white person, move to the back of the bus or leave if there were no seats left. The white man stood in front of Rosa Parks giving her the impression to move. Rosa refused to give her seat up for the man. The white man called upon the bus driver to call the police. The bus driver did so and Rosa was arrested.
Jesus stood up for what he believed in and was crucified as did Rosa Parks; she fought for the rights of African American’s on public transportation and was sent to jail as her punishment. Rosa Parks made a difference to the laws of public transportation for African Americans.
Rosa Parks is my hero because she was brave and stood up for what she believed in and what was right. She never gave up her fight even when her life was at risk. One person can make a difference to society.
