Rick Rescorla

by Frank from Portland

Rick Rescorla  9\11 hero

You'll never guess what Rick Rescorla did?

Rick Rescorla was born on May 27, 1939 in Hayley, Cornwall, United Kingdom . He died on September 11, 2001 at the age of 62. He served in the United States Army as Rank Colonel. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross.

Rick Rescorla was a brave hero during 9\11. In 1992, Rescorla warned the Port Authority about the possibility of a bomb attack on the pillars in the basement-parking garage but was ignored. When terrorists used this method in the 1993 attack, Rescorla was instrumental in the evacuation the building, and was the last man out.

Rick Rescorla saved a lot of people during 9\11 when the airplane stuck Twin Tower Number One. He thought that the World Trade Center was still a target for terrorists and that the next attack could be a plane crashing into Tower Number Two.

At 8:46 a.m. American Airplane Flight 11 struck World Trade Center one. He escorted 2,700 people on twenty floors out of the second twin tower.

The boss said to everyone," Stay put" and everyone did. Rescorla gave a different direction. He told everyone go down the stairs then everyone went down the stairs which saved thousands of peoples lives.

Rescorla reminded everyone to be proud of being an American. They all sang God Bless America and other songs like military songs. He helped people stay calm as they left the building.

That's why I chose Rick  Rescorla for my essay. He really made a difference to people. That is why he is my hero.
