I first became aware of my hero three years ago after reading his most famous book The Purpose Driven Life. I read this book because my mother had read it and told me it was a fantastic book and was definitely worth reading. I then read the book and enjoyed it very much. I found out that the author is the Head Pastor of Saddleback Church, one of the largest Baptist churches in Southern California located right outside of Mission Viejo. My mom also told me he was a very persuasive and kind-hearted pastor. She even said she had gone to some of his sermons over the past few months. This is how I first learned of Pastor Rick Warren.

Pastor Rick Warren is the Lead pastor at the huge Saddleback Baptist Church. He leads sermons and worship services. He also funds religious trips to different parts of the world in order to spread the word of God or help countries that are overrun with poverty or diseases. He also helped start the church over twenty years ago. Education requirements in this are going to a religious or Christian college and getting a degree in ministries. He also had to start the church so worrying about getting the job as a pastor was not a problem.

Rick Warren was raised in a strong religious family and with having father and grandfather both being pastors it was destined he would be the same. He also stated as a young adult that “I'd give my entire life to pastoring a single church if that was his will for me.” He also graduated from the California Baptist College.

He contributes to society by speaking to thousands of people world-wide through sermons, via internet and books. His world reaches thousands of people and tells of being an honest, kind person and through faith to become a better person. He has helped millions of people through donating to charities organizing church missions to poor countries. He has written a dozen books on religion and how to better one's self through faith, honesty, kindness, and giving.

I would like to become a pastor myself at a local Lutheran church. To take those steps in becoming a pastor like Pastor Warren I need to do very well in high school. I would also need to become increasingly active in my church and take part in mission trips to other countries. I would also take religious classes in college and go to seminars and sermons in college for people looking into the ministering field.
