Richard Winters

by Kurt from Philadelphia

My hero is Richard Winters. Winters was a soldier in WW2. He commanded Easy Company 2nd Battalion 506 parachute infantry regiment 101st airborne division during ww2. He was a brave man and a great soldier.

What my hero has done is he jumped in to Normandy in the early hours of D-day and fought across France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and into Germany. Late in the war, he was one of the first U.S soldiers in to the Eagles Nest.

Winters lived from January 21, 1918 to January 2, 2011. Winters was born in Euphrata, Pennsylvania to Richard and Edith Winters. He moved when he was 8. He moved to Lancaster, he graduated from Lancaster Boys High School in 1937. He retired in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Richard Winters is my hero because he was a brave man who served his country when it needed defending and not only was he a hero, he commanded a company of hero. He was a hero's hero.
