Where can I begin? Rob Dyrdek is an icon of skateboarding itself. Kids look up to him and what he's done in his life. Kids go skateboarding because of him. Kids do many things because of him. All he had were his dreams and his skateboard dream came true. It all began when he was 4, when he said, "I am going to be a cowboy." Then well after all that, he turned 7 and became good at soccer and kung fu.
During that time his mom wanted him to go to college and become a pro soccer player, but he had something better in mind than soccer. He went skating every day. When he hit 12 he found skateboarding. As soon he found skateboarding he would go skate every day so he could make himself better at it. He said, "I'm going to go pro in skateboarding" and as soon as he said that nothing could stop him. At the age of 16 he turned pro just like he said. He got paid to skate. He become a rider for DC shoes and alien workshop skateboard deck. He left home at 17 to go to San Diego.
You may be asking "how is he a hero?" Well, I have an answer to that. He make skate parks. He made sure that it was what the kids liked. Now he works every day and skates. He holds up to 21 world records in the Guinness World Records. He holds the record for "Consecutive front-side ollies: 46. Ollie big spins: 12. Consecutive nollie kickflips: 73. 360-degree kickflips in one minute: 12. Heel flips in one minute: 15, Consecutive ollies: 215, Nollie kickflips in one minute: 22, Longest stationary manual: 49 seconds, Switch frontside kickflips in one minute: 9, Longest 50-50 rail grind: 100 feet, Longest board slide: 100 feet, Highest skateboard ramp jump into water: 10 feet 8 inches."
Wow! That's a lot of records. And they're all in the Guinness Book of World Records. So that's how he is my hero. Who is yours?
