My hero is Rodney Mullen. He is a very humorous person. He loves to smile and laugh a lot. He is a skateboarder and has been for around 25 years. He's had lots of courage and faith in what he wanted to do. And here is why I am saying that.

Rodney Mullen was born 1966 in Gainesville, Florida. He is a pro skateboarder and he became pro when he was only 14 years old! His first competition that he won was a street skating competition. He was only 8 years old when he won it. He mainly skated street for he is the one that made all the street skateboarding moves up. Some of these moves were the kickflip or the halfcab. He even made up the move Darkslide which is a grind when the skateboard is upside down and is in the middle of the rail. My hero really made a difference.

Lots of skateboarders imitated him because he was so good at street skating that it's not even funny. Rodney is sponsored by lots of different companies. He even created the " Almost " skateboarding company which is a very popular sponsorship and lots of skaters use it today. One of his number one skateboarding sponors is Enjoi which has a logo of a panda bear. Enjoi is also one of my favorite sponsors for their skateboards are really nice and easy to skate. The sponsors sponsored him because he's only lost one free style competition.

Since Rodney Mullen skated only street he won every competition he played in (except one) and he's played in a lot of competitions. One time he even won a vert competition. The main reason that I like Rodney Mullen is because he really tried to become a good skater and he ended up being the best street skater which I love. Throughout this essay I have noticed what an excellent skater he is because, like I said before, he became pro when he was 14 years old.

I learned lots of the tricks that Rodney Mullen made up. He is really an idol to me. Rodney is one of my favorites. He is funny, willing, and really good at skating. I guess I want to be like him when I grow up. I'm going to become pro.
