Joey Ramone

The words hero and idol always get mixed up. Hero is when you like someone for what they did not for what they look like. Idol is when you like some one for what they look like, or you want to be them because they are rich and famous. My hero is Joey Ramone from the band the Ramones.

Joey has showed courageousness by actually playing an instrument, taking his first shots at singing, and songwriting at age 13. He had trouble practicing because he only had a snare drum at a young age, and his parents divorced in the 60's. He had enough courage to step up sing for his band. Most guys do not like to sing for bands because they are embarrassed.

Joey also showed commitment for playing with his band almost tweny-five years. it takes practice and a lot of commitment to stay together for that long. Most bands break up after about ten years or shorter.They were put into the Rock N' Roll hall of fame in 2001. A couple years before a couple of the band members died.

Joey also showed bravery to sing about some things. Some of the Ramone's songs had to deal with government. They were one of the first punk bands ever to start in the United States. They helped start the punk movement in America while the Sex Pistols started it in the UK. Now there are many more punk bands in America.

As you can see Joey has played an important roll in music. Now many others follow in his foot steps. He showed bravery, courageousness, and commitment to play for as long as he did. That is why he is my hero.
