My hero is the Denver Bronco’s Rod Smith. He led the Broncos to many of their victorious games. He lives in Denver and he plays for my favorite team. The main reason he is my hero is because he inspired me to play football and even though you don’t get the ball very much if you are a receiver you can still play and have fun doing it.
Rod Smith grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas. He went to high school while he lived there, but he went to college in Missouri Southern. After that he was drafted to the NFL by Denver in 1994. He has been with them for ten years, starting 124 of the 151 games that the Broncos played.
He shows strength towards his fellow team members and shows awareness to the other teams that they play. He is a great leader to his team also. Even though the Broncos lose games occasionally, he tries to keep the team pumped for the rest of the game. Rod Smith has played for a long period of time and puts up with a lot of grief and hard times he has gone to the Super Bowl more than once.
Rod Smith, the Broncos' leading receiver for the past seven seasons and one of the NFL's best wide receiver during that period, will see an increased role in 2004. He led the Broncos with 79 receptions and 1,144 receiving yards, averaging 14.5 yards per carry with seven touchdowns in 16 starts to post his franchise-best seventh 1,000-yard season. He ranked seventh in the AFC in receiving yards while he placed ninth in the AFC in receptions. Smith was selected by his teammates as an offensive co-captain for the Broncos, joining quarterback Jake Plummer in that role.

Rod Smith is a hero because he is a great athletic player. He also never gives up hope when his team is doing really badly. He also gives his team the plays they need when they need them. He is one of the few players who have played for the same team since he was a rookie player. His main victory was when he won the Super Bowl with the help of John Elway and Terrell Davis. Rod Smith has great Morale and he gets a lot of compliments from players and sports announcers. He inspires me to play even when I think it is becoming really boring.
