Cristiano Ronaldo is a famous Portuguese football (soccer) player. His full name is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. He was born in February 5, 1985 in Madeira, Portugal. His mother’s name is Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and his dad’s name is José Dinis Aveiro. Cristiano had one brother and two sisters. They were named Hugo, Elma, and Katia. He is the youngest in his family, but the most successful too. His second name “Ronaldo,” is very rare in Portugal. His parents named him after the US president Ronald Reagan. He first began to kick a football at the age of 3. As he grew up, he got attached to the game. His favorite football team was SL Benefica even though he later joined its rival, Sporting. Sporting de Lisboa is a very known football club in Portugal. He began in an amateur team called Andorinha, where his father was kit man, when he was just 8 years old. In 1995, at the age of 10, his reputation grew in Portugal. CS Maritimo and CD Nacional wanted this star player to play for them. But, unfortunately, the bigger team CS Maritimo missed the meeting with Rui Santos, manager of Andorinha. As a result, Cristiano signed up for Nacional.

After joining up for Nacional Sporting, he received training, 1st class instructions. The best training anyone can get! Nacional noticed he needed more support, so they brought his mother to him. He proved himself to Nacional by scoring two goals against Moreirense! He also featured for Portugal in the UEFA Under 17 Championships. He was spotted by Liverpool F.C. manager Gerard Houllierat at the age of 16. He was kept from joining Manchester because he was far too young and needed more physical development. Cristiano Ronaldo then showed his skill in the summer of 2003, when Manchester F.C. had to go against Sporting Club, which was the team Cristiano was in. Manchester players talked about how they would rather have the young talent on their team than going against them for Sporting won 3-1! The team Manchester decided they wanted Ronaldo in their team so they hired him for about £12.24 million( about $26.1 millions). In his first game in Manchester United, he scored. Manchester United won 4-0! He was awarded the number 7 shirt, which was a shirt that belonged to Manchester legends like George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, and David Beckham!

Cristiano Ronaldo has now signed a new deal that will last until 2010. He will be playing for Manchester United for 3 more years! Ronaldo had a few words to say before he signed the deal. This is what he said “United have stood by me and been there for me and I want to repay that.” Now he has just been training and getting better at the game. He’s a talented player, Pele himself said “Cristiano is a strong football player but it will take a few more years until he is awarded the title of best football player in the world!

What Cristiano Ronaldo has done to make him my hero is, well first he is a very good football player and second is that after the 2 World cup Qualifiers, he went to Indonesia and raised funds to help the people affected by tsunamis. What he did was very noble of him. In Indonesia, he met with the Vice President of Indonesian Republic. His name is Jusuf Kalla. He also met with the President of East Timor, Xanana Gusmã. They raised £66,000 (about $130,000 USD) by auctioning off Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal sports gear in Jakarta, Indonesia. Cristiano help a lot of people and also started a fashion store called “CR7,” which his elder sister manages. A percentage of what the stores earns is also donated to help the people in Indonesia. He makes what he can and sends some to help out the people who need it, people who need shelter and food.

What also makes him my hero is that he is a known football player with much talent. He’s sort of my idol, I person I look up to. A person I would like to be when I grow up. He is an awesome football player with many great moves. I personally try to copy some of his moves but I mess up a lot! He has strong and fast feet and that’s why his good at football. He also plays fair, not like a lot of other football players that hurt other players when they get beaten or tricked. He also has a lot of football spirit, every time I see him play in the television, he’s running for the whole game! He doesn’t stop! He’s like a football machine, doing its purpose, to play and love the game!

It’s very hard to find out were Cristiano Ronaldo lives. He goes on to different parts of the world to play football. He sometimes goes on to live with his family. I mean when ever he has time, he goes back to Portugal to visit his family. Like a family reunion. He does it often, whenever he can. So it’s not clearly known where he is staying at as of this moments. But where he was born in was in Funchal. It’s in Madeira Island in Portugal. His current height is 1.84m(6ft) and weights about 78kg(165 lbs). His favorite color is white, his Zodiac sign is Aquarius, and his Chinese Zodiac sign is ox. His favorite meal is "Bacalhau a Braz," (a Portuguese cod fish, made with potatoes and scrambled eggs) and his favorite drink is "Santal" (Regional fruit drink).

My hero was born in Monday February 5, 1985. He is not dead yet. He is still alive and well, his current age is 22. He’s still healthy enough to play his positions, forward, left wing, and right wing. He is currently the most successive, youngest football player in the world. Some say he is already the best. I think it’s because of how hardworking he is while playing the game. If you look at the picture above this paragraph, you can see that he is sweating and tired and happy. He worked hard, won the game, and is really tired. He uses all his effort during the game. That’s also why his my hero. He has a lot of stamina but uses it all for his games.

How Cristiano Ronaldo has changed my life is he donated and helped make funds to the damaged tsunami places. He is important to me because when he was about my age, he was really good. He also took care of his family and supported and helped them in anyway he could. He is a true hero. He doesn’t need superpowers, he just needs the heart and the determination to do what he believes is right. That is a true hero. To set his heart into something and be determined to finish what he believes is right. To some people it might not look at this like heroism, but to others, it can completely change their lives. To those people being helped in Indonesia, Cristiano Ronaldo is probably one of the nicest people they will ever know. He did what he thought was right, and that was to help make funds to the people hurt from the tsunami in Indonesia. He made a choice and helped people that needed it. He is not a spoiled rich guy! He is a loyal, determined guy that will stop at nothing to do what his heart tell him to do! The question isn’t "how he is he hero" but the question is “How is he not a hero?” He is indeed a true hero to his fans and the people in Indonesia. Look at some of his football talents below!
