My definition of a hero is someone that I think is strong and powerful, and someone who will fulfill their dreams. My hero is Steve Mcnair, quarterback of the Tennessee Titans.
Steve Latreal Mcnair, the fourth of five sons, was born February 14,1973. He was raised by his grandmother, Hattie. He lived in Mount Olive, a small farming town in Mississippi. He woke up every morning to pick vegetables and do his chores. While all the Mcnairs were athelic, Steve was special. Steve was supremely talented in every sport, but football was his best. Steve entered Mount Olive high as a freshman in 1987. Steve ranked among the nation's top high school.
Steve considered himself a quarterback, and refused to go to any college that didn`t see him as a quarterback. In Alcon State University in Mississippi, coach Cardell Jones recognized Steve for what he was. Steve felt very comfortable with his decision to attend Alcon state. In 1991, even though his offense was sluggish, Steve had a marvelous year. What he couldn't accomplish through the air he achieved on the ground. Heading into his Junior season, sporting news and the New York Times were seeing his skill and power.

In 1994, the Houston Oilers went with the first two picks, and the Oilers selected Steve Mcnair. Then in December, Steve got his shot against the Jacksonville Jaguars and although they lost,he threw more than 300 yards and managed the offense with tremendous poise. Overall Steve got into 10 games, passing over 1,197 yards and six td's. Steve's first season as a starter in 1997 produced another 500 record. He led his team in rushing td's with eight and ranked second with 674 yards the third highest total for a quarterback in NFL history.
In 1998 the Oilers changed their name to the Tennessee Titans and took steps toward becoming an AFC power house. He had 492 attempts, 289 completions, 3,228 yards, and 15 touchdowns. In 1999, he gave the team a deep threat. Tennessee stormed two wins in 7 of its last 9, and 2 place in the AFC central. Steve had a wonderful delight in the playoffs, and he knew the SuperBowl was there for him. When the Titans got to the SuperBowl they were facing a threat -- they were facing the strong and powerful St.Louis Rams, but Steve's hopes fell by a yard and they lost the game of a 23 to 16 loss. During that year, Steve set a record of all time. He ranked second of the best quarterbacks of all time.

Steve Mcnair is my hero because he wants to win or achieve something big in his career. He will never quit on what he is good at. He wants to keep going to the top, and make it for the big one. He still wants to be the best quarterback for his team.
