Susan B. Anthony

Susan B. Anthony once said, " I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand. " Anthony helped change the 19th amendment along with other activists. She never gave up and sacrificed many things just to help women gain equal rights. Susan B. Anthony is a hero to women because she changed women's rights forever by taking a stand and never giving up on giving them equal rights.

Susan B. Anthony developed a strong moral compass early. She spent most of her time working for social causes and worked to end slavery. Anthony was influenced by her family. They wanted her to affect injustices towards women, and they believed in excellent education, peace, and justice. ("Susan B. Anthony"). In 1850, Anthony involved in the abolitionist and women's rights movement. In 1851, she attended an anti slavery meeting, where she met one of her best friends, Elizabeth Stanton. She also established the women's New York State Temperance Society, along with Stanton in 1852. ("Stanton and Anthony").

Susan B. Anthony is a heroic icon to many, because she shows perseverance and compassion by never giving up on helping women get the rights that they deserve. Anthony helped during the civil war, which helped her gain perseverance. For example, "Anthony along with Elizabeth Stanton, formed the Women's Loyal Nation League, which was the first National Women's political organization. They also gathered over 400,000 signatures to persuade Congress to pass the 13th Amendment" ( "Stanton and Anthony"). This evidence proves that Anthony never gave up even when the country was at war. In addition, the country needed her to be a hero during this time because women didn't have equal rights and many thought that they deserved the same rights that men had. The text states, "Anthony addressed the National Women's Rights Convention in 1854 and formed the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1869" ( "Susan B. Anthony" ). This evidence shows how Anthony was compassionate in helping women gain equal rights by acting herself. She showed how she would do anything to help women gain equal rights. She was arrested to show that she was taking a stand. Without Susan B. Anthony women wouldn't have the rights that they have today, because she has helped women in a way that no other man could ever do.

Anthony changed women's right forever. Without her, women might not have the rights that they have today. She has gave women the rights that they deserve and never gave up on helping them. Anthony gave speeches around the world and produced and created The Revolution in 1868. In 1872, she voted illegally in the election and was given a fine, which she never paid, and then she was arrested. ( "Susan B. Anthony" ). She gave up many things to prove her point.
