MY HERO: Sisy Chen
MY HERO: Sisy Chen

Sisy Chen, a Taiwanese television commentator, as well as a feminist and politician. She has been known by her unique criticism. Her famous program was "Sisy's World News", a daily talk show. The show had been very popular from 2002 to 2009. Chen showed her excellent talking skills and her particular ways of analyzing events left a good impression on Taiwan people. Besides the show "Sisy's World News", she also had many popular programs on TV and radio shows, such as , Women's Talk, Wen Qian Xiao Mei Da and Jie Ma Chen Wen Qian. The radio show "Sisy's dreams world" on BBC had caught a lot of attention, too. With such success, her wonderful reputation had been known in Asia. Sisy's name could be seen by many newspapers and editorials.

Her student life: Sisy Chen's family was a big clan in Taichung, and her grandfather was a commissioner since he was in the middle age. Because of her grandpa, Chen learned a lot of things about politics before she entered the high school. Not only the politics, but the philology was Chen's favorite. She could write the short essay quickly in school tests. Everyone said Chen's argument was the best work . She could use her pen to make the common topics unusual. And she created her writing style in her student life. Thanks to her extraordinary family and the clear training of thought, Chen had decided what to do in her future.

Politician and feminist: After receiving her LL.B. from National Taiwan University, Chen started her life of a politician. Her first step was helping the families at the 228 events campaign for the legislators. Chen's pointed comments were really conspicuous. What first attracted me was her sense of criticism. In 1984, as as a founding member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Chen became a key figure in DPP. By founding the party in Taiwan, Sisy Chen was a well-known politician. She helped establish many policies about leading Taiwan to take a broader view. Chen thought Taiwan must take part in the International organizations. Besides being an excellent politician, Sisy Chen was also a famous feminist. "The women should not always submit to men; females have to prove their outstanding skill." Chen said. As a feminist in Taiwan, she really did a lot for females.

An excellent television commentator: The first time I learned about the name, Sisy Chen, was on the TV show "Wen Qian Xiao Mei Da," a political program. Chen always showed her confidence in the talking show, and people could catch the issues quickly and clearly in the short time. Chen didn't fear the heads of government at all; on the contrary, she was brave in questioning the politicians daringly. Many politicians called Chen as the “little chili" because they were afraid of arguing with the little chili. Some of the Taiwan people supported her way to watch our government. Many young women even decided to learn from her. The trend of Sisy Chen started to catch on.

I liked Sisy Chen for her extraordinary wisdom and bravery. She is the most excellent television commentator I have ever met. Taiwan is such a crazy country that people really liked talking politics and criticized the party in power. Many, many political talking shows were aired on different channels. But the talking shows were usually not objective. They pleased the party which they supported and agitated viewers to believe something not true. It was not a good phenomenon for Taiwan and the people in this country. Sisy Chen was different from those television commentators. She shared some thoughts that could be trusted. Her point of views were often cited from the famous magazines and foreign news, like CNN and BBC. Thanks for Chen, we could get the correct ideas objectively. Otherwise, we would be parroted.
