What do you think a hero is, would a hero be somebody you call a leader or does a hero have different characteristics? I believe a hero can be somebody with the abilities and the determination to make change happen. Shirin Ebadi is far more than an average hero, she is a leader. Her courage, persistence, and subversiveness have given people the equality they deserve. Although her country's leaders would say otherwise and how she is a rebellious and defiant character; However many people including me believe otherwise and count her as her as one of the most influential women of today. She has written countless number of books vocalizing her opinions about equality and separation of state she has more than often had to correct western stereotypes, defining heroism in herself.

Dr.Ebadi has played a major role for western societies, her courage have influenced people to sound off their opinions just as she has. However she is becoming one of the most active female leaders vocalizing out on human rights and is one of creators of defenders of human rights. She travels all around the world speaking out and giving many people hope every day for their rights, She has won a Nobel peace prize for all the work she has done containing to human rights .She has this great courage to write about and let her voice be heard about the Islamic religion, Although she is a woman who is practicing Muslim. Dr. Ebadi, also has the courage to even give her opinions pertaining to how the tyrants of her government should become a democracy. Dr.Ebadi has been brave enough to rebel and fight against her country or citizenship and equality showing many people that they need to speak up for their equality and influencing many people including myself.

Even from an early age Shirin Ebadi parents and even she wanted for her to be successful. Her parents even took away, the normal traditions of Iranian families and treating her and siblings the same, and installing a sense of Independence. Mainly one of the reasons Dr.Ebadi influences me is because her desire to be educated and successful even later in her life and how she has even passed those values to her children. These values of being successful and educated have played a major role in her accomplishments, especially being known as the first Iranian women judge. When the Islamic revolution the government took her job as judge because they said "women were not fit enough to be judges" even if they were qualified to be so. She continued to strive and rebel against her government that women were qualified. She even took early retirement and went back to school and got her doctorate degree in law. After she received her lawyer license she became more determined and took on a case to show how the government is working .However during the case she shows a piece of evidence of that shows the corruptness and the Iranian government takes her law license and they even put her in prison or 5 years. Although these are major setbacks she continued to speak out she even continued to write books and articles on the government, she continued to travel the world speaking on and working on human rights, and she also speaking up and often correcting western stereotypes. Shirin persistence for education and equality has played a major role in her success and even how she influences people and gives them courage.

Have you ever rebelled against anything or even stood up for anything? Well there are millions of people who do not know how to stand up for anything and they get their courage from other people being rebellious. Shirin Ebadi subversiveness has given people that courage they needed to stand up. To stand up or a greater cause or for the hopes of a better life to fight for what you know is right this is why Dr.Ebadi has won a Nobel peace prize , for the work she has put in for human rights. However, she has not only risked her life by speaking up she has risked her families and even the people who support her. She has been exiled and even had death threats, but she continues to speak her opinions on the Iranian tyrants and how they country should be a democracy. These political risk she takes gives many people courage to know they deserve these rights. Imagine one day somebody telling you , you were not qualified to do something because of gender or just because they said so ? How would you feel when you know you are very well qualified and worked super hard to be there ? Many people face this ugly truth everyday and many do not know how to speak on it ,but Shirin Ebadi does and she influences people to fight back . Dr.Ebadi encourages them to fight and even rebel for what they deserve and she is a determined leader she is more than a hero to me , somebody that could remain and speak up and takes constant risks deserves more than a hero title.

Have you ever had somebody tell you that you could not do something just because they said so? Have you ever had somebody who just wanted to control you, and just wanted to dictate everything you do? If you answered no to these that is because in history somebody has had the courage to fight for freedoms and independence. They have given you the right to have a sense of independence and a sense to know what you stand for they have even given us a sense of equality. Shirin Ebadi has faced many of these problems i have listed and she continues to fight. Dr.Ebadi influences me in 3 ways to where I look at her as a Hero; Her courage/bravery to fight against her country and society's traditions , her persistence on wanting to be educated and successful and finally her submissiveness on correcting western views and from being exiled to even having death threats and still continuing to speak out .However , she does not just influence people she gives people hope for a greater good, Dr.Ebadi has been named one of the most influential women and has even women a Nobel peace prize. During her years of speaking out she has risked a lot like her career and even her family Lives' but she is still determined to get citizenship and equality which is why I call her my hero. Even Though in my eye's she is more than any hero I ever heard of and is truly a great leader.
