Born January 21st 1985, Salvatore Augustine Giunta is a veteran from fighting in Afghanistan. Some people might think he is just a person who simply had to put his finger against a steel trigger and relinquish his problems simply by squeezing, however he displays many different accounts of bravery, courage, and sacrifice in his actions

A very brave act that Salvatore Giunta clearly demonstrates includes him returning more than 30 wounded and physically disabled soldiers back to the base and away from harm. In full bravery: when Sal's platoon was ambushed by at least three times his amount of men, he still kept fighting and would not give up. Despite even being shot, Sal still would not back down!

In no case, would Salvatore give up and that shows us what it means to really be courageous. In 2010 he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his amazing acts of courage and determination. Salvatore was fighting in Afghanistan when he saw 10 RPG's (Rocket Propelled Grenades) stationed on a hill yet his platoon had nothing but assault rifles yet he pulled through the courage to fight and won!

One of the best words to define Sal Giunta is sacrifice. This word is so much more than its everyday stereotype. Sacrifices are something that can be bad and aren't always required but you do them because of your understanding of what people are going through. The option to sacrifice something is not an obligation but every once and awhile there is a person who takes up the challenge of taking up the pain to spare others. One of the reason I keep saying Sal Giunta defines sacrifice is because he sacrificed nine years of his life to fighting for his country. As you may have heard from this report, Salvatore Giunta always put others needs before his and helped the wounded during his many tours in Afghanistan

When I think of Salvatore Giunta, I don't think of a soldier that has bravery, courage, and the mind set that he will sacrifice anything for anyone, but i think of someone I look up to. When I was younger I was always fascinated in our United States Army, but I always thought that in order to be a hero, you would have to be famous and known by so many people. However my unclear opinion changed when I heard that a normal unrecognized man was the first man to win the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. As I wrap up with this project, I have one question: Do you think Salvatore Augustine Giunta is a hero, and would you go this far to make sacrifices as deep as he did?
