For me a hero is a person who has done something with his life, that hasn’t committed crimes, does not consume drugs or be a violent person, a hero is a person who helps others and takes advantage of his talents.
My hero is named Saul Hudson, but all people know him as Slash. He was born in Stoke-on-tent, England, the 23rd of July. Since he was young, he liked playing guitar, at the age of 15 he got his first guitar given to him by his grandmother. He liked playing the guitar so much, he skipped classes and in 11th grade he dropped out of school. Since he lived in Los Angeles, he quickly got friends who could help him become a star. He’s first band was named “Road Carew” but soon he met some people and they formed the famous band “Guns and Roses”. The members of the band were: Slash, Steven, Izzy, Axel and Duff Mckagan.
After a tour named “Use Your Illusion”, Guns and Roses decided to take a break, but Slash needed to continue playing the guitar, so he formed his own band named “Slash Snake pit”. They had a lot of success with their album named “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere”. Slash continued having problems with Axel Rose about “Guns and Roses”, so he gave all the rights of the band to him. In 2000 Slash met Perla Ferrar and married her, but that didn’t slow him down, and in 2003 with some of the members of “Guns and Roses” they formed “Velvet Revolver”. They had become a very popular band and Slash is considered one of the best guitarists in the world.
Slash has made some acts of charity, for example, in the holiday season he helped kids in Los Angeles who didn't have a family by giving them food, clothes, shelter etc. He even sold his Hummer to help these kids. He has “adopted” some kids and invited other people to do the same.
I chose Slash as my hero, because I like a lot rock and roll and guitars, also because he is an example of perseverance because he never gave up, for example, when he had trouble with his band “Guns and Roses” and he had to leave the band, that didn’t stop him so he formed his own band and continue making his dreams true and even though being married he never forgot about his wife. Slash made a difference in my life by teaching me perseverance and he has inspired me to play guitar. Also I learned that not all famous people are mean, because he has contributed to charity and never forgotten his wife or music.
Slash won the Best Guitarist prize in the 2005 Esky Music Awards in Esquire magazine
In January 2007, Slash was honored with a star on the Rock Walk of Fame
In 2007, Slash was awarded the coveted title of "Riff Lord" during the fourth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards.
