Steve Irwin

by Bob from Hervey Bay

Steve Irwin is an Australian hero to all, and a worldwide hero to some. Steve Irwin started off with his dad when he was really young, learning how to deal with animals dangerous and cuddly. From the age of seventeen he was making his own films until a show decided to put him on TV. His first show was Steve and the dragon where his main focus was on Komodo dragons. After going through life threatening situations, Steve never gave up. He then moved on from Komodo dragons to crocodiles and had a new show called “The Croc Hunter” where he wrestled with crocodiles, dealt with deadly venomous snakes and many other dangerous Australian animals.

He has been near close to death when a snake spat poison in his eye. But he managed to live and continue his show. After marrying Terry Irwin they had two kids, Bindi and Bob, and he opened his zoo, Australia Zoo, which attracts tourist from all over the world. Everyone was looking down on Steve when he used his own son as bait to a crocodile. It made the headlines but after that blew over Steve made a movie called the Croc Hunter Movie. In the year 2006 Steve Irwin was struck in the heart by a sting ray and died instantly. The whole of Australia was gob smacked.

Those who loved him most went to his funeral, while his fans watched the funeral on live television. Steve's favourite singer, John Williamson, came and sang True Blue. Steve is a hero because of what he has done and everyone has loved him. His legacy has gone on; Bindi Irwin has her own show on ABC kids called Bindi the Jungle Girl. Steve Irwin is an Australian hero and my hero.
