When I first found out about Steve Irwin, I was watching T.V. from school one day. I was flipping through the channels and I stopped on Animal Planet. There was a guy that was wrestling an alligator. I was hooked. Every day I would come home from school and watch his show. I thought that this might be something I would want to do when I grow up. Ever since I was a little kid and I saw that show I would catch lizards and put them into a cage pretending they were dangerous animals. I loved to play with animals. When I would go to the zoo I could stay at the same cage and study the animal forever. My mom would have to pull me away from the cage. I loved animals.

Steve Irwin was a zoologist and had his own zoo. He took care of the animals at the zoo. He loved what he did and would not give up anything for it. He also traveled across the globe trying to find new species of animals. He dealt with mostly reptiles and studied them everyday. He put himself in a lot of dangerous situations like dealing with poisonous snake and giant crocodiles. A zoologist makes about 54,000 dollars a year. That is less than I would I would like to be making but if it is what I love to do than I don’t care.

At an early age Steve Irwin was dealing with animals because his parents owned the Australia zoo. His dad taught him everything they knew about animals and to always be careful of animals because they can be unpredictable. At the age of nine is when he really started to deal with the really dangerous animals. He would start to deal with the alligators at this age too. In the zoo he would help maintain the cages of the animals and even feed the crocodiles. His parents treated it as a job but Steve treated as a hobby. But before he could do all of this, his dad had to educate him about all of the animals in the zoo - which ones to be careful of and which ones were harmless.

He followed his parents in their career and he loved every part of it. He has pasted his knowledge down on TV who also wants to learn more. He told kids which animals to stay away from and which ones are ok. Also he taught kids at the Australia Zoo about animals or he taught newcomers who wanted to be a part of the zoo how to love the animals. Also at his zoo he helped the animals if they were sick or needed to be fed. But most of all he inspired kids like me to do what they love.

In high school I can get good grades and try my best. I can pay close attention in biology because that has a lot to do with animals. Also I can take lots of science classes to be familiar with animals. In college I can take advanced classes in science and volunteer at an animal shelter. Most of all I want to make an impact on the world, not just on a few people.
