I have always thought that a hero is a man who shows us an example of courage and bravery. My hero is Shavarsh Karapetyan. Shavarsh was a swimmer of USSR, seventeenth champion of the USSR, eleven-record holder and champion of Europe. But it is not due to these results I admire him.

It was an ordinary morning when Shavarsh, his brother and a coach were running near the lake Yerevan when they saw how a trolley-bus suddenly fell into the river. Shavarsh reacted immediately. He began to dive into the water and grab people out off the trolley-bus . It was an incredibly difficult task. The water in the lake was very cold. Shavarsh dived at the depth of 10 meters. While he was rescuing people he smashed the glass of the trolley-bus and got a wound. But he didn't even pay attention to the pain, because he wanted to save people.

He pulled 46 people from the water. Twenty of them were brought back to life by doctors. But there were also survivors who were not included in the official bulletin. Simply, they immediately went from the emergency site. Even if he had saved one, two or three men, that would have been fantastic, taking into account the conditions in which he had to act. Shavarsh Karapetyan literally brought back to life 20 (!!!) people. It took about 20 minutes.

Hardly any man in the world could do the same. Shavarsh acted as a Superman. Shavarsh Karapetyan is a hero, whose act of courage is extraordinary.
