Emily Loves to Skate

My hero is my figure skating coach, Sherry McLeod. I picked her to be my hero because she is my coach, and she helps me learn to do spins and crazy jumps! At competitions she helps me calm down and not be scared. Sherry is creative while making skating routines, and she is a very good skater herself!

Sherry became a coach because she hurt her ankle while skating, and she couldn’t do her jumps very well after that. So she became a coach instead of a skater. She said that the most fun part of her job is going to competitions. She also landed her axle when she was 10!

She stays in shape by going for runs. She also said that the hardest thing on the job is getting the skaters to not be scared. Marilyn Kreuzinger, the head coach, inspired her. Marilyn was Sherry’s coach when she skated.

Sherry McLeod is my hero because she is very nice and fun. She does something that I love to do as well as her, and that is figure skating!
