Shigeru Miyamoto

by Shania from Gondecourt

I would like to talk about my hero, Shigeru Miyamoto. He was born on 16th November 1952. He's an video game designer, creator and producer. He's famous thanks to Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda.

He was born in Japan, in the city of Sonobe. When he was a child, he always explores a forest behind his home. Shigeru's father knew the Nintendo's director. In 1977, he got hired by the Nintendo Society. In 1981 he created the famous video game, Donkey Kong. Thanks to Donkey Kong's game, Shigeru developed the story of Super Mario Bros. His "explorations" when he was a child, created the inspiration for The Legend of Zelda.

Shigeru was not good in school but he achieved his dreams. He is a good artist. He influenced many young people and the video game industry. In 2006, he was made "Chevalier" of the French "Odre des arts et des lettres" by Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres the French Minister of Culture, and in 2007 he won the Lifetime Achievement Award in Game Developers Choice Award.

I really love The Legend of Zelda and I grew up with Sigeru's video games. He is an example for me, thanks to him I learned that with imagination we can achieve our dreams and no matter whether one is good or bad in school, we can achieve our goals.
