"Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock and roll."

The hero that I have I chosen is a beloved person who is praised by the hearts of many. The hero I have chosen has given a childhood for many to look back on with a smile. The hero that I have chosen had a hand in the saving of one of the richest industries in the world today. The hero that I have chosen has been considered to be the most inspirational person in the world. That hero is Shigeru Miyamoto.

Miyamoto's first accomplishment occurred in 1981 when the hit arcade game 'Donkey Kong' debuted. This arcade classic provided early gamers classic sounds and the satisfaction of reaching a new High score. Then with the launch of the Nintendo entertainment system (NES) came the mustached plumber known as Mario. The revolutionary video game 'Super Mario Bros' takes a special place in many people's hearts as they remember the catchy music and memorable characters. Miyamotos genius in gaming would soon spawn many other gaming classics including the beloved 'Legend of Zelda' and 'Metriod' series that would continue to expand their installments for generations to come.

Miyamoto was born November 16, 1952 in the town of Sonobe located in Kyoto, Japan. It can be seen that much of Miyamoto's inspiration came from some of his childhood adventures. At a young age Miyamoto developed a love for nature and spent much of his time exploring the forest around his home. One day through his exploration he came across a cave, and after a couple days of hesitation, he ventured inside. This childhood memory can be related to the very beginning of 'The Legend of Zelda' where the player must enter a cave to receive their first piece of equipment. Also in the Mario series, the enemy the Chain Chomp was inspired by a memory from Miyamoto's childhood when he was attacked by a chained dog on his way home.

As of now, Miyamoto continues to work as the head of the EAD (Entertainment Analysis and Development )of Nintendo. He continues to make masterpieces and give new generations fond memorizes to look back upon as they grow older. He has a wife, two kids, and a Shetland Sheepdog. While a game designer, he also plays the guitar and banjo, and loves to guess the measurements of random objects. This is one of the reasons why I view so highly of Shigeru Miyamoto. While many of his great games were taken from his childhood, he's still grown up to be a mature adult, but refuses to abandon the joyful adventures of his childhood and he still continues to share his inner child with the rest of the world.

There are not many other words to put to it, Miyamoto is a great man. He helped save the entire gaming industrial from total collapse. He has created some of the most widely famous icons, and he did it all, with the heart of a child and the brain of a man. My hero Shigeru Miyamoto is a different kind of Hero. He may not have saved someone from a fire or rescued endangered animals, but he is the hero of my childhood.
