Many families in America today believe in living the American dream, which is having a family of two kids and both parents living together. I guess my family isn’t labeled as an American dream because I live with five siblings and only one parent, my mother. My mom and my dad separated when I was five. Me being a little kid at the time I really didn’t understand what was going on until a year later.

My dad came around every now and then but that still did not take away the fact that I had no man to look up to as I grew up into a young man. I always looked at my mom as being a strong, independent, intelligent woman. Who knew a woman that came from so low can make it this far? Sandra Rhone also known as my mother was born in the beautiful parish of Saint Thomas, Jamaica where she grew among her seven siblings and mother and stepfather.

At sixteen years old Sandra committed herself to the lord, after realizing that she wouldn't be able to go anywhere else and have fun. Since her cousin Sarah Nugent got saved that same day her streak of having fun was over. In Sandra's small community in Saint Thomas, Jamaica, she was always looked upon as the nice dependable woman that everyone counted on to do stuff for them. After she had her six kids, she influenced all of her children to finish school and get a better education so we would have better opportunities than our father.

Later on Sandra took on the challenge of going back to college to finish getting her education in business and real estate. After her four years in the college she graduated from Alberta's Magnus with a bachelors degree and later on became a pastor for Everlasting Hope Ministries. Mother mom always told me to never let anyone take away your dream, and I would amount to something in life. And this is where Sandra Rhone is now. Most of her kids have been through college and is quite successful in life. But I guess that leaves me to say that is why Sandra Rhone, also known as my mother, is my HERO!!!
