My Hero is Soren Peter Lauritz Sorensen. He is my hero because he made huge contributions to chemistry. Science has always been one of my favorite subjects and chemistry is one of my favorite topics. His main ideas were the pH scale and the Soren formol titration.

Soren P. L. Sorensen is a Danish Chemist from Havrebjerg, Denmark. Soren Sorensen introduced the idea of the pH scale and the Soren Formol Titration. Soren Sorensen was alive from 1868 to 1939. He got his P.H.D in chemistry in 1899. One of his major things created was the pH scale in 1907.

The pH scale is a way of telling the acidity of a liquid. The scale is on a 1-14 scale. One is the most acidic and 14 is the most basic (non-acidic). Rainwater is around six and purified water is seven on the pH scale. Another of his theories was the Soren Formol Titration.

Soren Sorensen created the Soren Formol Titration in 1907. A titration is a laboratory method of quantitative chemical analysis to learn the concentration of a known reactant. His titration uses amino acids with formaldehyde, a frequently used organic compound, by potassium hydroxide, an inorganic compound.

I look up to Soren Sorensen because his knowledge of chemistry and for devising the pH scale and the Soren Formol Titration. If he had not created these things, it would be a lot harder to determine the acidity of liquids therefore making chemistry all together much more complex.
