I first became aware of Stacey Tookey when I started watching So You Think You Can Dance on television. I just had started dancing when I was 10 years old and I did not know much about the dance world. Then people introduced me to So You Think You Can Dance and one person who caught my eye in particular was Stacey Tookey. Her choreography stood out to me and the way she did not only just make up a dance, but she molded the dance to fit every dancer that was in the piece to make it look good according to them. On the show she is very encouraging and uplifting to the dancers. If I were to be a choreographer or a teacher I hope to be like her and as passionate and kind.

In the dance industry, you can have a career in several areas that are different branches of the dance industry. For example, there are choreographers and dance coaches at a dance academy. Personally, where I would want to start out is being a backup dancer for a big time musician, then possibly progress on to being a Cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers football team or open up my own dance company. The steps in order to make it to this point is training at studio in order to get better and going to a dance academy as you get older. The dance career can pay well in different parts of it. When you are a background dancer you can be paid around $13 an hour and as a Chargers girl you get paid $75 an hour according to the auditioning information on the San Diego Chargers website.

On the IMDB website it states that as a young adult Stacey Tookey was hard-working and determined to work towards her dream. She grew up in a dance studio that her mom owned so she knew a lot about the industry in advance. The fact that her whole family danced and her mom owned a studio she was able to share her passion with her mom and knew that's what she wanted to do when she grew up. In 1994 at the age of 18, Stacey began studying ballet and contemporary dance at the Ballet British Columbia Mentor Program, Fusion Dance Company and was a member of the National Basketball Association's Grizzlies Extreme Dance Team. (IMDB.com biography)

Stacey Tookey has impacted a lot of aspiring dancers like myself to become professional and follow their dreams. Her choreography makes others want to be better dancers. The dance pieces she choreographs make people feel things they didn't know they could through dance even by watching it.  Her company STILL MOTION made its debut at the Nate Holden Theater in Los Angeles in 2012. Stacey tries to travel to different conventions and dance competitions to try and help other dancers. When dancing passion is very important Stacey really emphasizes that.

I can begin to take specific actions now to accomplish my goals in this career.  I'm currently training at a dance studio and on the song team here at Capistrano Valley High School.  As I get older, I will apply to internships to assist choreographers. In the meantime, I am going to Los Angeles and taking classes with well- known choreographers and train with experienced dancers to further hone my dancing skills. I hope to be able to make it into a respected dance academy or a college that offers an excellent dance program such as California State University, Long Beach. Since my education is a priority to me applying to colleges that have a good academic program combined with a good dance program is what I will search for. For example colleges like University of California, San Diego. If I become professional in this career I hope to make as big of an impact as Stacey does. When I work with dancers, I'll try my best to inspire others and have them feel something they did not before.
