"Hero" is a complex word to describe; it has abnormal and extraordinary actions or words behind it. Some people define "heroism" as an action that it is hard to perform like to lift a huge boulder or to save a life of someone trapped in a fire; while others define "heroism" as to stand behind what is true and fair no matter what are the consequences. In my view, "heroism" is the ability to accomplish actions that change someone else's life in a dramatic change for the better. Sheikh Zayed is my hero; he was the previous president of the United Arab Emirates. The United Arab Emirates is my country; it lays in the Middle East opposite to Iran. Sheikh Zayed was the creator of the union between the seven different Emirates that makes the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Zayed's prospective vision was an important factor in bringing the Emirates together. Sheikh Zayed has always believed that unity is the most important factor to establish a strong country in all aspects. Although he was an uneducated man, his experience in life and his critical thinking were the keyo every remarkable change. Sheikh Zayed has influenced not only the history of the United Arab Emirates but also the Arab and Islamic nation; this unique characteristics makes him my hero.

During the Lebanese Civil War, His Highness Sheikh Zayed has sent donations to the Lebanese people; he also was unhesitant to use every means available to help stopping the war. Sheikh Zayed's noble action was from a strong believe that all Arab people are brothers, and they should help each others in time of peace or war. Sheikh Zayed is my hero because of his countless humanitarian and compassionate actions. Sheikh Zayed was a leader, father, and a hero. Sheikh Zayed has treated all people who lived in the United Arab Emirates moderately without a concern for their nationality or background, or religion; his perception in life was to treat people the way they liked to be treated.

Sheikh Zayed was behind the discovery of oil in the United Arab Emirates; His Highness has had a strong belief that the land of the United Arab Emirates had the blessing and welfare beneath its massive endless desert; as a result, the English geologists had discovered the oil which was behind the enormous change in the economy of the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Zayed is my hero because he has awakened a buried supply of development in the United Arab Emirates; His Highness was behind the partaking of women in building the country and creating the nation's glory. His Highness has had a strong belief that women form half of our society, and she has the right to work not only preparing the next generation as a family unit but also as an engineer, doctor and a teacher. Despite the fact that the United Arab Emirates is a conservative society, Sheikh Zayed has stood tall in front of the voices that were against the feminism in the United Arab Emirates. Currently, most receptions in the governmental departments are operated by women, and all the recognition and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Zayed.

What inspires me most about Sheikh Zayed is his devotion to his citizens; he was a unique example of reliability and patriotism; he was waking up early in the morning waiting to see his people coming to his palace to solve their problems and look after their needs. Sheikh Zayed was a very modest man, though he was a president; he has treated every single civilian equally, and with respect. Sheikh Zayed was a very humble man; when I met His Highness during Aid holiday, His Highness was talking to an old citizen; this citizen was complaining about the condition of his house, so Sheikh Zayed commanded that a new house be built for him.

Sheikh Zayed is my hero because he had a strong belief that the human resource is much more valuable than oil; as a result, he gave the command to build schools, libraries and universities that are equipped with the most sophisticated technology in order to hoist the level of awareness and knowledge among people; he also has built advanced conveniences for those who lived in the abandoned parts of the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Zayed was a hero of every Emirati national; he was a great man of his word; he was a man with a strong message in life. His Highness has inspired me not to give up while there is a glimpse of hope; he was like a candle in my heart that led me through the dimness; he was my role model in life, and just only by recalling what he has gone through; and what he has achieved make any obstruction in front of my way easier. Sheikh Zayed was a unique character; it is true that he has gone, but his memory will stay in my heart as long as I am alive. I will remember him at every sign of civilization he made; I will recall his generosity when seeing people in need; he will stimulate me to do the right even when the waves are rough, and the ways of staying alive are limited.

As a summary, His Highness was a unique character which is hard to find like at the current time; he has fought until the last breathe of what is right. He played a major role behind the dramatic change in the United Arab Emirates; he was a man with a character, and a passion in life. Sheikh Zayed was a blessing from the God to the United Arab Emirates.
