Said Aouita

My hero is Said Aouita. He is a former Moroccan athlete. He was born on November 2nd, 1959. he was the first Arab to win a gold medal in international competitions. I consider him my hero because he is the best Arab athlete of the century and also because he was winner of 5000 meters at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Many people did not know where Morocco is situated on the map, but thanks to Aouita and this achievement many people all over the world heard of Morocco for the first time. Said Aouita is my hero because he won so many awards and broke so many records. He was also a sports interpreter for many channels and has served as a coach in different countries.

My hero married Khadija Skhir in 1983, one year before the 1984 Summer Olympics. He has four children: one son, Adil, and three daughters; Soukaina, Sarah, and Zeena.
