Soraya Jiménez was born in Mexico City the 5th of August in 1977. Her father is José Luis Jiménez and her mother, María Dolores Mendívil. Soraya has a twin sister named Magali Jiménez and a brother named José Luis Jiménez. She started liking sports when she was a child; she started playing basketball and then badminton. When she was in high school in the Institute Benjamin Franklin between 11 and 14 years old, she started liking the sport of weightlifting and she dreamed of becoming the best athlete.

She has demonstrated that she is gifted in weightlifting and she is respectful, intelligent and determined. Soraya Jiménez became an important part of society because of her talent and abilities that not everyone has. She is the first Mexican woman to win a gold medal in the Olympic Games. Right now, Mexico has better results in this women’s sport and Soraya has proven herself.

I think Soraya Jiménez is really a hero because she doesn’t give up and she is making an effort in her sport of weightlifting. She has the strength and intelligence to be a hero and the important thing is that since she was little she has wanted to become the best athlete. By practicing this sport and putting forth her best effort, she has become an important person in history and we all can remember her as the best Mexican woman in weightlifting.
