In my opinion Steve Yzerman to this day is the greatest hockey player to have ever been discovered. He's my hero because he is smart, strong and awesome at the sport we both love to play. He inspired me to lace up a pair of skates and go out and play hockey. He was spectacular in the 2002 Western Conference Finals against the Colorado Avalanche. I dream of becoming a superstar legend like him.

Steve Yzerman is number one. He was the first eighteen year old to be selected to be on the 1984 all-star team and selected after that in 88', 89', 90', 91', 92', 93', 97, 99, and 2000. He has won 3 Stanley Cups and 1 as an executive and the following awards as a player: Ted Lindsay- Awarded to the NHL's outstanding player as selected by the members of the NHL Players Association in 1989, Conn Smythe Trophy- Awarded to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs in 1998, Frank J Selke Trophy- Awarded to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game in 2000, Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy-Awarded to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey in 2003, Lester Patrick Trophy- presented in part by the NHL, for contributions to hockey in the United States in 2006. He was the longest serving captain in the NHL (1303 games). His number was retired by the Red Wings in 2007 and was retired also by the men's national team for the 2005 winter games. This why Steve Yzerman Is number one.
Steve inspires all to go out and do what you love to do. He inspired me to never give up on my dreams. When I was younger I was watching him play and it was so amazing I wanted to play just like him. He has a charity that raises money for the end of cancer. He inspired the fans in Detroit to never give up on the team or the people who keep it running. And most important of all, he inspires his fans to have fun.
My dream is to become a legendary hockey player someday. I'm still wishing to have a career in hockey someday and be in the legend books of the sport. I want to own a team and have Steve Yzerman as my GM and president. Hockey is something that we share as our identity as Canadians and people. Without hockey I would not have anything to work towards. Hockey motivates me do better in life.
Steve Yzerman is, to date, the greatest hockey player to have ever been discovered. Seeing Steve Yzerman on TV years ago truly made me feel that he is the greatest hockey player that has been discovered. His awards are what I want to work towards and accomplish just like he did. This is why Steve Yzerman is my hero.
