Sacagawea and Pomp

Sacagawea was a woman who was critical to the success of the expedition of Lewis and Clark. Sacagwea belonged to the Shoshone Indian tribe; she was taken captive by the war party of the Hidatsa Indians. There she became a slave and was either purchased or won in a game by a French Canadian trader. She became a second wife and later had a baby with him and named him Jean Baptiste. Some might say she was the heroic guide of Lewis and Clark. Sacajawea helped them accomplish many things and people should recognize her more.

Sacagawea is a hero, because who would go on an expedition with two guys you have never met? She put herself in danger, along with her baby. Another reason she is a hero is because, without her, Lewis and Clark would have probably have gotten lost and be unable to communicate with the Indians.

Sacagawea

Sacagawea was a brave woman and she should be noticed more for the great things she had done. Sacagawea traveled pregnant. Traveling pregnant would have been hard, and then when the baby would have been born it would have made it harder. She was a brave woman and she did a lot more than people think. It must have been hard to trust people when you were kidnapped at ten years old, and taken captive like an animal for five years then sold.

Sacagawea traveled a long distance and could have died. Going on an expedition, anyone could have died from an animal attack, poison, dehydration, hunger or hypothermia. She probably knew that she could have died and went anyway. She risked many things going on the expedition and went anyway and that is true bravery.
