                                            INTRODUCTION

Have you ever thought of who would be your hero? You probably didn't. Most people don't. I didn't think about it until we had to make a hero project in school. It took me a while but I kept thinking. Then it came to me Sacagawea! Sacagawea she was born in Lemhi Country, Idaho in 1778. People don't know her exact birth date. If she was still living shed be 234 years old but she died on April 9th 1884 so she died when she was 106 yrs. old. Then there were some obstacles and accomplishments. One accomplishment is that when she was captured by an enemy tribe, sooner or later she escaped to another tribe where she met this man who made her his wife. In November 1804 Meriwether Lewis and William Clark entered the area where Sacagawea currently lived. They asked her if she would show the way for them on the expedition. Sacagawea thought for a while but finally said yes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND OBSTACLES SHE OVERCAME

Sacagawea had some accomplishments on the way there. Would it be exciting to you if you made accomplishments when you were on the expedition? Well I think it was for her! On the way through the expedition a great gust of wind tipped one of their white pirogues over and inside was the papers, instructions, books, and most importantly the medicine. While others panicked Sacagawea stayed calm and cleaned everything up.  Then she got the boat and got her family and friends on and she saved them and as William Lewis said "The Indian woman to whom I ascribe equal fortitude and resolution with any person on board at the time of the accident, caught and preserved most of the light articles which were washed over board but cleaned what ever we had left." There were a lot of obstacles she had to overcome. Everyone has some of them, don't you think? So here are some of her obstacles. One of the obstacles was that Sacagawea was pregnant on the trip.  But in 1805 she gave birth to a son named Jean Baptisle Charbonneau. Although she was pregnant she was still helpful on the expedition. The last reason is because Sacagawea was under a lot of stress; she was away from her family, she was the only woman in the group, she had a baby strapped to her back the whole time, and she had to take care of the baby too. I think I would be under stress too. Could you imagine being in her place?

TRAITS

There are many traits to describe her and I'm going to tell you some of them:

COURAGE! Sacagawea showed courage by leading Lewis and Clark on the expedition with a baby on her back! How hard would that be for you? But was still helpful on the trip. This is good for Lewis and Clark.

PERSERVERENCE! Sacagawea showed perseverance to herself! She never stopped leading Lewis and Clark on the expedition she just kept on going! Sooner or later they made it on August 14th, 1806!

LOYALTY! Sacagawea was loyal because she was faithful to Lewis and Clark on the trip they took together! If something came like a problem that happened she kept going until they made it!

MY HERO SACAGAWEA

There are many reasons why she is my hero but there's one big reason why. The reason why is because she is just a brave woman and she gave me the courage to do things I wouldn't have done. She went through a lot of danger on the expedition. But she got through the dangers. So that is why Sacagawea is my hero!
