Samantha Rowlands

My hero is Samantha Rowlands. She is my hero because she learned how to read when people doubted her. On January 3rd, 1994 Samantha Rowlands was born. She was mentally challenged when she was born. Her parents were the most soul support to her. She never said “I can’t” to anybody or herself.

She has a friend that she calls an angel because she helped her learn to read. The doctors and her parents didn’t believe in her learning how to read. Then she proved them wrong and she learned how to read like everybody else. She said she wanted wings like an angel so they could lift her spirit and people would think she is beautiful. She wanted to read so bad somebody just had to help her.

Her parents were so thankful for that person that had helped her read. The person’s name that helped her is Theresa who is from Panorama City. Theresa said that Samantha wanted to be an angel. She is now reading two books a month. She is still a big part of Theresa’s life.

When she gets older she wants to help other people who can not read. She wants to become an angel just like Theresa. Her reading comes naturally now. She studies angels just as if she were studying a rock in her hand. Theresa would bring her angel books to look at.

Samantha made me really think about the people who are mentally challenged and I learned a really important lesson. You should really think about the people that are mentally challenged. Samantha is a real hero because she learned how to read and never gave up. She was determined she was going to learn how to read. Her parents and doctors were dumbfounded and couldn’t believe their eyes.
