"I really would not like to portray a bad person. I know I could do it. But I'm not really on the cussing thing and all. I don't really cuss in my personal life. So I couldn't see myself on the screen letting millions of people look at me cuss. I have a lot of fans who are kids and I wouldn't want to disillusion them, especially their parents."

Selena Quintanilla was a young women who inspired many women or young ladies. She was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. She had a brother and a sister, Abraham and Suzette Quintanilla. Her dad had a passion for music. He began teaching A.B. and Suzette how to play an instrument when they were very young. Selena was being left out because she was too young. she showed her dad she wasn’t too young, she showed him that she had a beautiful voice.

Selena, her dad, and her siblings couldn’t speak the Spanish language. Selena had an amazing voice and sang in both languages. Soon her dad began a band "Selena Y Los Dinos." She began performing at her dad’s restaurant until her family went bankrupt. They had nowhere to stay except on an old bus and they played wherever they could. It was all worth it. Her performing was interfering with school, so her dad pulled her out in 8th grade. Selena recorded her first album in 1995, her second album was released in 1986.

Her career began taking off in 1986. In this year Selena received an award for Female Vocalist of the Year. One of the band members left to go solo in 1993. In 1988 Selena met Chris Perez, a guitarist that joined their band in 1990. She married him 2 years later on April 3, 1992.

Selena began to have problems with one of her fans and close friend, Yolanda Saldivar. Yolanda was stealing money from Selena and her family. They fired her on March 12, 1995. She continued to have some problems about some missing paperwork. Selena was killed after having an argument with Yolanda at a Days Inn Motel in Corpus. Selena was shot at 11:48 and died at 1:09 P.M. that same day. Selena’s fans were shocked when they heard Selena was dead. The Friday she died is and will always be known as Black Friday.
