Vibrant color and form at Vaerssenbaai, Curacao.
Marine life on the coral reefs in Curacao and Bonaire thrive because the government has established a marine preserve to protect the coral population. In some parts of the world coral reefs are declining at an alarming rate. While natural causes, such as storms and water temperature changes, put pressure on reefs, humans have contributed to the damage through excessive chemical contamination from groundwater runoff.
The Reef Environmental Education Foundation is an organization of divers who are committed to the preservation of the marine environment.
The Project Aware Foundation promotes education, advocacy and action to save our underwater environments.
