from Mr. Baker's freshman college & career planning course. Students
focus on contemporary individuals who exemplify their own values and
aspirations for the future.
Science Hero: Walter Mischel by Brooke from Mission Viejo
Walter Mischel is a respected psychologist who made important findings in the study of delayed gratification.
Family Hero: Mark Blethen by Matt from Mission Viejo
Mark Blethen is a college coach who inspires his son.
Science Hero: Forrest Bird by Kiefer from Mission Viejo
Forrest Bird was a biomedical engineer who developed the respirator that extends life.

Del Norte High School students from 9th grade classes
sharpen their skills in researching and writing about the heroes who
inspire them. Teachers instruct students how to cite their work and
avoid plagiarism.

Deserving Heroes Project Trimester 3
''Tell me who you admire and I'll tell you who you are.''
During trimester 2
(2011-2012), Ms. Christopher's Del Norte High School honors students
read Charles Harper's essay "Heroes", created WIKI sites about current
heroes, reviewed the Character Counts Pillars, and debated the
definition of a hero on our classroom discussion board. After our
extensive exploration of the concept of heroism students were asked to
choose a person- living or dead- and argue that he/she is deserving of
the title "hero".Please enjoy the student essays.
