My hero is John Sturtz. He is currently teaching at Fork Union Military Academy. He was my history teacher for 2 ½ years. My first week while at Fork Union Military Academy (F.U.M.A.), I mistakenly forgot to call him sir. He was a very strict man with the cadets so I learned right away how to act there. That day I learned to treat adults with the respect that they deserve whether you like them or not. At school he was the only one that, no matter who you were, no matter how nice you were to him, he treated you the same as everyone else. The thing that I liked about him the most is that he would always like to joke around with those that he was teaching, he would show us funny things on the Internet, and allow those in the class to talk about funny experiences. He liked to be serious when it came time to do that too, and he would talk to us and get us to understand why.
During the mornings before you would go to breakfast, he had morning duty. He walked around the halls where we lived to make sure that all was well in the halls. When cadets in the halls were not acting correctly and not working together, he talked to all of the cadets and got them working and cleaning together as one. He was always the one that if you deserved something he would always give it to you, but if something happened that you did that is not right he would always be there to punish you. Instead of sitting with the other teachers at lunch he always sat with the cadets to talk with them about things like how things are going and how your family is. He liked to be concerned about the cadets at the school. He knew more about some cadets than thier own parents did. John Sturtz contributed in a big way to who I am today.
