| The Father of the Chinese Revolution |
My hero is Dr. Sun Yat-Sen who is known as “the Father of the Chinese Revolution.” He was born into a peasant family in the village of Cuiheng, Xiangshan County, Guangzhou prefecture, Guangdong province on November 12th in 1866. At the age of thirteen, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen received western education in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. In addition, he went abroad to study in Hawaii with his brother. When he returned home in 1883, he was greatly troubled by what he saw as a backward and absolutist China, which inspired him to rescue the people who were dominated by the Ching Dynasty. So he began to state his opinions against the Ching Dynasty and aimed to establish a democratic China.
In 1895, a coup he plotted failed. Sun was an exile in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan. He wanted to raise funds in these countries for his revolution. Thus, he founded Tongmenghui in Tokyo, Japan in 1905. They staged many uprisings from 1906 to 1911. Although failing many uprisings, he did not give up. Eventually, on October 10, 1911, a military uprising at Wuchang began a process that ended over two thousand years of imperial rule in China. "Later, on December 29, a meeting of representatives from provinces in Nanjing elected Sun as the provisional President of the Republic of China and set the January 1 of 1912 as the first day of the First Year of the Republic. This republic calendar system is still used in Taiwan today." Wikipedia
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen succeeded in the tenth revolution and established the Republic of China. How determined he was! During the revolution, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen studied many books about how to administer the country. At last, he wrote the book “Three Principles of the People”. He based his ideas of revolution on three principles: nationalism, civil liberties, and the people's livelihood, which still greatly influences the Chinese government today.
Thanks to his revolution, I can live in a democratic society and not be dominated by Ching Dynasty. His story of establishing Republic China inspired me every time I was frustrated. When I think of him, I will be more confident and ready to solve problems and overcome obstacles.
