Tupac Amaru Shakur

by Jeff from New Haven

What does it mean to be a hero? To me, a hero is an individual, a person who can be himself no matter what. A hero does not need super powers or anything like that to be able to save someone. Sometimes just a couple of simple words can save someone. Heroes go through their ups and downs, but a real hero does not let that stop him. He keeps going to reach his goals and dreams. He inspires others to succeed in life and that gives other people strength to go on. A hero is considerate and does things the best that he can. He is able to do things that others thought were not possible. And a hero is always able to help others in one way or another.

Tupac Amaru Shakur was born June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of Black Panther Afeni Shakur. Tupac grew up in Maryland, then later moved to California. He first got started in the music business as a back-up dancer for Digital Underground and later got recognition for his solo album 2pacalypse Now. Tupac later signed with Death Row after receiving bail money from Suge Knight. Tupac was not just an amazing rapper, but he was also a good actor, starring in the movie Juice and Gang Related, as well as others. His murder is still a mystery, but Tupac was announced dead on September 13, 1996.

I like Tupac because he was a very talented African-American. He touched others with his way for words in his songs and in his poetry, as well as entertained people with his acting abilities. I personally thought that Tupac was a great actor. I loved his role in the movie Juice. You can tell he was a natural at what he did. He was able to get into a role and really play the part as if he was that person.

Another reason why I admire Tupac so much is because of what he said. He talked about things that relate to what is going on in the world now and how things should change for the black race. He was able to talk about all of this stuff and say it in a way that you actually take what he is saying under consideration and it makes you really think. His poems are inspiring and I wish I could write like that to touch and reach out to others.

In conclusion, Tupac is a great definition of a hero. He had many different talents that made him special and unique from others. Tupac was able to reach out to the ghetto youths and to his black people and make some realize things that need to change. I think he showed kids that if you really want something, you can go for it. He came from nothing and grew up to be everything, so he inspires others to be what they want. And most of all he showed that it helps to just be real to yourself no matter what other people may think of you.
