What is a hero?

To me, a hero is someone that does something good for others. They try in everything they do. They respect others. Someone that is a true leader in everything they do.

Troy Aikman was born on November 21, 1966 in West Covina, California. He played football at the University of Oklahoma and then he transferred to UCLA in 1986. In 1988 he won the Henry R. After college, he was the first overall pick in the NFL draft and went to the Dallas Cowboys. In his rookie year with the Cowboys, he helped lead them to a 16-4 playoff record, and then to three Super Bowl Championships. His agility and ability to read the defense that helped the Cowboys to two Super Bowl championships. He won the MVP for Super Bowl XXVII(27), and in Super Bowl XXX(30).

Later in Troy Aikman's career, he suffered with concussions and with back problems, so the cowboys cut him to avoid a $7 million dollar signing bonus. He overcame this obstacle and became a NFL broadcaster, which he is still doing this present day.

"Troy finds other ways to make people happy, even if it is not on the football field. Now he is the chair of the Troy Aikman foundation, which brings happiness to children in medical centers. So far, Troy has only three centers open, but hopes that in the future there will be a center in every city that has a professional football team."

The Troy Aikman Foundation was established in 1992 with the mission of "providing financial support for the physical, psychological, social, and educational needs of children." The Foundation works to build high-tech interactive playrooms in children's hospitals.

Since the foundation was formed, It has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve the health and well-being of children in the U.S.A.

There are centers in Dallas and Oklahoma. Soon another center will be established at UCLA's Children Center. The Troy Aikman foundation is paired up with the Starbright Foundation, which is chaired by Steven Spielberg. They created an online computer network that links all of the computers from the centers together. It makes it so that the children are able to play and talk to other critically ill children which they can even see each other by video communication. Troy sometimes even gets on his home computer and talks to the children also.

Troy Aikman fits all of the descriptions of a hero because he is giving to the society and he is loyal to his community.
